It used to be little more than a passing visage to vacationers en route to the beach. Now Conway is attracting beachcombers to a unique destination 12 miles inland.

The Moore Farm House is located in North Conway only 15 miles from Myrtle Beach. Conway boasts a history rich in tradition and well worth a day. A city of only 15,000, Conway offers the tranquility of a time gone by. Built along the banks of the Waccamaw River, with streets lined with hundred year-old live oak trees covered with Spanish moss, Conway offers many activities for the traveler.

The River Walk stretches along the banks of the river and includes parks, wooded walkways, dining on the river, century-old warehouses (some used today as markets) and a marina.

The Horry County Museum and Historical Society are rich with the history of this old river town. See City Hall which was once the court house and the “hanging tree” across the street. Stop by the Visitor’s Center (248-1700) at 903 Third Avenue to obtain free maps, brochures or arrange for a guided tour.

Located on Hwy 90 just north of Rt 22, La Belle Amie Vineyard is an operating vineyard open to the public where guests are invited into the wine tasting room to sample their private label wines and a variety of gourmet foods. Click on either glass to learn more.

Only 15 miles from the Moore Farm House, Myrtle Beach offers a radically different experience. Stroll along the white sandy beaches, explore other spots along the South Carolina coast, take in a show or other special attractions, shop til you drop at Barefoot Landing or golf on one of the many golf courses in the area. Later, chose from the myriad of restaurants available at the beach or back in Conway, SC.

If shopping is your favorite activity, make sure you stroll through the unique shops of Conway and enjoy a special lunch in one of the many fine downtown restaurants before you head for the factory outlet stores in Myrtle Beach.
